A short story about a cross-country group that quietly kept one plan running without a single missed renewal.
Sarah listed a Spotify Family seat on Seatkin in October 2024. By February, the group had four other members — none of whom she had met. Eighteen months later, the group is still running.
## How they made it work
Sarah set a single rule on the listing: pay by the twenty-fifth or your seat goes back into the pool. No exceptions, no drama. Three of the four members have been there since month two. The fourth seat turns over every six months or so.
## The numbers
Sarah pays Spotify the equivalent of fifteen dollars a month. After the platform fee, she keeps about three dollars and pays the rest of the plan from member contributions. Members each pay about three dollars and change.
## What surprised her
"I expected payments to be the hard part. They were never the hard part. The hard part was answering 'when is renewal?' in chat every week. Posting it once at the top of the group page solved it."
Predictability is the product. Music is the bonus.
